Internally displaced persons are among the most vulnerable people in the world, and the number of those fleeing violence and conflict is estimated at 40.3 million, with an unknown number of people displaced as a result of natural disasters. This is nearly double the number of refugees worldwide. The presentation will give an overview of forced displacement, including the vulnerabilities of internally displaced persons in urban settings and the constant challenges and obstacles they face.

Join us for a panel discussion with:

  • Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons
  • Filiep Decorte, Deputy Director, UN-Habitat, New York Office
  • Marciana Popescu, Ph.D., Graduate School of Social Service, Fordham University
  • Eric Chen, Ph.D., Graduate School of Education, Fordham University
