Public Safety Update | Weather Emergency

0

Dear Members of the Campus Community:

At noon today, Monday, Feb. 1, Governor Cuomo declared a state of emergency for New York City, Long Island and the northern suburbs. Citing the rate of snowfall and the inability of snowplows to keep up with the accumulation, the governor predicted New York City aboveground subway lines shutting down, road closures on major thoroughfares, and suspension of Long Island Rail Road, PATH, and Metro-North service before evening.

The University strongly recommends that anyone on-campus who is not considered essential to campus operations by their managers should return home as soon as possible.

As always, members of the University community should take local conditions into account when traveling to or from campus. Faculty, students and staff should call any of the following numbers for the latest campus travel-related information:

  • (718) 817-5555
  • (212) 636-7777
  • (800) 280-7669 [(800) 280-SNOW]
  • (877) 375-4357 [(877) 375-HELP]

In an emergency, please call Fordham Public Safety at (718) 817-2222.

Sincerely,

John Carroll, Associate Vice President
Fordham Department of Public Safety
