associate dean, presented “Early Childhood Assessment: Important Considerations for Diverse and Underserved Populations” at the New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP) Annual Conference, held from Oct. 25 to 27 in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He also served as an exhibitor and presented, “Cross-Battery Assessment for SLD Identification and Intervention” as the New York State delegate at the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) roundtable, held Nov. 2 to 4 in Portland, Maine.

Lerzan Askoy, Ph.D., BUS,
associate professor of marketing, received the Management Honor Award (Yönetim Onur Ödülü), which was given as a lifetime achievement award for research contributions impacting management that cross international boundaries, at the EDUPLUS 11th Annual Management Summit (Yönetim Zirvesi) on Nov. 15 in Istanbul.

Michael Baur, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of theology, gave a talk, “Natural Law and the Natural Environment: Pope Benedict XVI’s Vision Beyond Utilitarianism and Deontology,” at a conference, “A Catholic Consultation on Environmental Justice and Climate Change: Assessing Pope Benedict’s Ecological Vision for the Catholic Church in the United States,” held from Nov. 8 to 10 at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Tom Beaudoin, Ph.D., GRE,
associate professor of practical theology, convened a meeting of the Rock and Theology Project at the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Religion in Chicago, IL in November.

Bruce S. Cooper, Ph.D., GSE,
professor of education, and Rose Byron McSween, ADM, major gift officer, published “Finding a Golden Mean in Education Policy: Centering Religious and Public Schools” in the Peabody Journal of Education.

Gloria Durka, Ph.D., GRE,
professor of religious education, gave the opening plenary session address, “Teaching Values through Art,” at the International Symposium on Values, which was held from Nov. 16 to 18 in Istanbul, Turkey. On the second day of the conference, she delivered a plenary address, “Religious Education and the Teaching of Values in a Post-modern World.”

John A. Fortunato, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communication and media management, published “CBS Promotion of Future Programming During the 2011 NCAA Tournament” in the Journal of Promotion Management.

Elizabeth Frost, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of English, contributed to an essay, “Splayed Texts, Bodily Words: Handwriting and Seriality in Feminist Poetics,” which was published in The Contemporary Narrative Poem: Critical Crosscurrents (University of Iowa Press, 2012).

David S. Glenwick, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of psychology, and Mark E. Mattson, Ph.D., A&S, associate professor of psychology, presented “The Effect of Transitional Programs on Scholastic and Functional Living Skills in Children With Autism” at the New England Psychological Association annual convention in Worcester, Mass. in October.

D. Frank Hsu, Ph.D., A&S,
Clavius Distinguished Professor of Science, professor of computer and information science, and director of the Laboratory for Informatics and Data Mining, received the 2012 IBM Faculty Award in November.

Margo A. Jackson, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of counseling psychology and division chair, published a chapter, “Counseling Older Workers Confronting Ageist Stereotypes and Discrimination,” in Ageism and Mistreatment of Older Workers (Springer, 2012). She also published “Current Professional Issues in Vocational Psychology” in the Handbook of Vocational Psychology. She gave a presentation, “Integrating Master’s Counselor Training with Doctoral Training in Counseling Psychology,” at the 2012 Annual Convention of the American Psychological Association, which was held in Orlando, FL in August.

Zsuzsanna Kiraly, Ph.D., GSE,
director of the Hagin School Consultation and Early Childhood Centers and clinical associate professor of school psychology, served as an exhibitor for Yoga 4 Classrooms and led morning yoga sessions for conference attendees at The New York Association of School Psychologists (NYASP) Annual Conference, held from Oct. 25 to 27 in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Christiana Peppard, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology and science, gave a talk, “Commodifying Creation? Benedict XVI’s Vision of the Goods of Creation Intended for All,” at a conference, “A Catholic Consultation on Environmental Justice and Climate Change: Assessing Pope Benedict’s Ecological Vision for the Catholic Church in the United States,” held from Nov. 8 to 10 at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. She also spoke on a panel, “Pride: Flying Cars and Other Broken Promises,” onNov. 28 at The New York Academy of Sciences.

associate dean and director of Executive Programs, published “Deadly Diseases or Innovative Practices: How Deming Would View Today’s Executive MBA Sector,” in the Journal of Executive Education.

Joel Reidenberg, Ph.D., LAW,
Stanley D. and Nikki Waxberg Chair, professor of law, and founding academic director of the Center on Law and Information Policy, spoke at the Cisco Nobel Public Services Summit in December in Oslo, Norway.

Thierry Rigogne, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of history, published “Entre Histoire et Mythes: Le Premier Siècle des Cafés à Paris, 1660-1789,” in Les Histoires de Paris: De L’âge Classique à la Modernité, XVIIe-XVIIIe Siècle(Hermann, 2012).

Brian Rose, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of communications and media studies, interviewed director Joe Wright and actress Keira Knightley after a screening of Anna Kareninafor the British Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He also interviewed director Sacha Gervasi and actress Helen Mirren after a screening of Hitchcockfor the Producers Guild of America.

Matthew Schottenfeld, ADM,
television production manager of EIC-TV Television Studio, published “Internationalising Experiential Learning for Sustainable Development Education” in the Journal of Education for Sustainable Development. He presented two poster presentations, “Implementing Successful Strategies for a Video-on-Demand Digital Library Collection Deployment” and “Planning for the Technology-Enhanced Knowledge Commons: Advancing Learning and Knowledge Creation for the 21st-Century Workforce,” at the Educause Annual National Conference in Denver.  He also presented a paper, “College Students’ Collaborative Activities and Their Use of Technology for Knowledge Creation in the Academic Library,” at the 24th Greater New York Conference on Behavioral Research.

Laura Stout Sosinsky, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of psychology, published two chapters, “Childcare Markets in the US: Supply and Demand, Quality and Cost, and Public Policy” in Childcare Markets Local and Global (The Policy Press, 2012) and “Measuring the Environments of Early Care, Education and Intervention Programs for Children in Poverty” in The Environment of Human Development (Cambridge, 2012). She was also elected to the steering committee of the University-Based Child and Family Policy Consortium.

Lance Strate, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of communication and media studies, co-edited Korzybski And… (Institute of General Semantics, 2012) and authored a chapter, “Korzybski and Marshall McLuhan,” in the book. He also published “Counting Electric Sheep: Understanding Information in the Context of Media Ecology” inInformation, “The Fall of Nations: The Fate of Social Systems in the New Media Environment” in English and Portuguese translations in E-compós, and a poem, “Head First,” in Poetica Magazine. In addition, he won the Malahat Review’s Twitter Monostich poetry contest on Aug. 27. Lastly, he gave a workshop on “New Media and Strategic Communication,” and an address, “If Not A, Then E,” at Congreso Internacional En Comunicación Estratégica on Sept. 12 to 13 at Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Peubla, in Puebla, Mexico.

Jay C. Wade, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, published “Male Reference Group Identity Disorder, Masculinity Ideology, and Relationship Satisfaction in Men’s Heterosexual Relationships” in Psychology of Men and Masculinity.
