assistant professor of theology, published “Intellectual Strangers No More? Peter Singer and Roman Catholicism on Ecological Concern” in Claritas: Journal of Dialogue and Culture.

John Carey, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communications and media management and co-director of the Center for Communications, gave a research presentation on “Media Ethnography” at the New School on Sept. 27; a lecture on “Lessons From the Introduction of the VCR” at the Collaborative Alliance of Advertising Executives on Oct. 3; a presentation on “The Historical Context for Media Adoption” at the Cable and Telecommunication Association for Marketing Conference in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 15; and a lecture on “Three Case Studies of Media Adoption” at a Comcast/NBCU Broadcast and Cable Networks off-site retreat on Oct. 24.

Bruce Cooper, Ph.D., GSE,
professor of educational leadership, published “Publish or Perish? A New Look for Old Profs” in the Fall 2012 Edition of UCEA Review.

Timothy de Waal Malefyt, Ph.D., BUS,
visiting associate professor of marketing, recently published Advertising and Anthropology: Ethnographic Practice and Cultural Perspectives (Berg Publishers, 2012). It was selected by Expert Marketer Magazine as one of its best new marketing books.

Meghann Drury-Grogan, Ph.D., BUS,
assistant professor of communications and media management, has had her research chosen as “invited publications” by InterTradeIreland and PMPerspectives, two major organizations which have featured her findings on decision-making in Agile software teams.

Celia B. Fisher, Ph.D., A&S,
Marie Ward Doty Professor of Psychology, director of the Fordham Center for Ethics Education, and professor of psychology, has been nominated as a panel member for a new project of the National Research Council (NRC), through its Board on Behavioral, Cognitive, and Sensory Sciences in November. She has also been appointed as a Fellow in The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Christine Janssen-Selvadurai, Ph.D., BUS,
lecturer of management systems, published “A Blended-Value Framework for Educating the Next Cadre of Social Entrepreneurs” in Academy of Management Learning & Education.

John P. McCarthy, Ph.D., A&S,
professor emeritus of history, recently published Twenty-First Century Ireland: A View from America (Academica Press, 2012).

Philip M. Napoli, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communication and media management and director of the Donald McGannon Communication Research Center, delivered a presentation, “Beyond Exposure: Audience Evolution in the U.S. Television Audience Marketplace,” to a visiting delegation of the International Media Innovation Management Program in October.

Travis L. Russ, Ph.D., BUS,
assistant professor of communication, published “Soliciting and Using Input During Organizational Change Initiatives: What are Practitioners Doing?” in Management Communication Quarterly. He also published “The Relationship Between Communication Apprehension and Learning Styles in an Organizational Setting” in the Journal of Business Communication.

Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., A&S,
gave the following lectures: “Louis Massignon: ‘A Catholic Muslim’ and His Intellectual Journey” at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. on Oct. 24; “The Seven Sleepers: Hope for Survival of Death in Christianity and Islam” at Brown University in Providence, R.I. on Oct. 26; and “Abrahamic Faith: Jewish, Christian and Muslim” at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in New Canaan, Conn. on Oct. 28.

Peter Vaughan, Ph.D., GSS,
dean of the Graduate School of Social Service, was honored with the Knee/Wittman Health and Mental Health Lifetime Achievement Award at the National Association of Social Workers Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 7.
