Elaine Congress, D.S.W., GSS,
associate dean of GSS and professor of social work, published the third edition of her book,Multicultural Perspectives in Social Work with Families (Springer Publishing Company, 2012).  She also received the Public Health Social Worker of the Year award from the American Public Health Association (APHA) in October.

Jeanne Flavin, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of sociology, was presented with the 2013 Feminist Activism Award at the annual meeting of Sociologists for Women in Society for her social action, particularly in the areas of reproductive justice, in Denver in August. She was also a featured speaker at the West Virginia Wesleyan College’s third annual gender symposium on Oct. 4.

assistant professor of psychology, and Se-Kang Kim, Ph.D., A&S, associate professor of psychology, presented two papers, “Parent Selection of Infant Child Care: Professor of Quality, Quantity, and Type of Child Care Arrangements With a Focus on Fathers as Caregivers,” at the Work-Family Researchers Network Conference in New York in June, and “Profiles of Child Care: Parent Selection of Patterns of Child Care Type, Quantity, and Quality,” at the fifth National Research Conference on Child and Family Programs and Policy in Bridgewater, Mass., in July.

Jay C. Wade, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, was named president of Division 51 (Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinity) of the American Psychological Association and was the coordinator of the Third National Psychotherapy With Men Conference in New York in June. He published “Masculinity Ideology, Income Disparity, and Romantic Relationship Quality among Men with Higher Earning Partners” in Sex Roles and presented the Division 51 presidential address, “The Psychological Study of Men: Helping Men Be Better Men,” at the American Psychological Association annual convention in Orlando in August.
