Fordham Forward | Five Things | November 17, 2020

0

From the Office of the Vice President for Administration:

Dear Members of the Campus Community:

Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions and University operations for the end of the fall semester:

  • In the period from November 2 through 15, fifty-five people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Most students, faculty, and staff will have just five more days on campus before the Thanksgiving break and the transition to remote teaching and learning for the balance of the semester. For those who will be with family over the break, you should be tested for COVID-19 before you depart campus, if you haven’t already completed your fourth required test.
  • To help facilitate virtual Thanksgiving celebrations during the pandemic, Zoom will lift its 40-minute meeting limit. The extended service will be available starting midnight on November 26, Thanksgiving Day, through Friday, November 27, at 5 a.m.
  • This week the University will announce procedures for COVID-19 testing, building closures, and on-campus personnel for the winter break and the month of January. Remember that the academic calendar has shifted in response to the pandemic.
  • Since January 17, there have been more than 11.1 million cases of COVID-19 in the United States reported to the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and more than 151,800 cases in the last seven days. Sadly, there have been more than 246,200 deaths nationally from the virus since January, and more than 760 in the past seven days. In addition to being tested before you leave, we reiterate the importance of wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing, and avoiding indoor contact with people not in your household.
