NEW YORK – Award-winning artist Hilda Green Demsky’s paintings of land and solar “eco-scapes” will be on display March 2 to 30 in the Entrance Gallery of the Leon Lowenstein building, Lincoln Center campus, Fordham University. A reception, open to the public, will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 11. Inspired by watching a space shuttle launch at the Kennedy Space Center after winning a Christa McAuliffe Fellowship, and by viewing films of outer space taken by the astronauts, Demsky developed a series of paintings that merge abstract elements of science and art and evoke the mysteries of the universe. “Demsky’s work, vital and enchanting, stimulates ongoing recall,” says Vivienne Thaul Wechter, Ph.D., Fordham University artist in residence and curator of exhibitions and acquisitions. “Her multiple experiences are expressed in luminous, sensual colors, in the ultimate combination of craft with vision.” DATE: MARCH 2 TO 30 TIME: 9 A.M. TO 6 P.M., MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY PLACE: DATE: TIME: PLACE: LEON LOWENSTEIN BUILDING, ENTRANCE GALLERY, 113 W. 60TH ST., MANHATTAN
