COVID-19 Update | Five Things | March 3, 2021

0

From the Office of the Vice President for Administration:

Dear Members of the Campus Community:

Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions, vaccinations, and University operations:

  • In the last 14 days 239 people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19, an overall positivity rate of 3.25%, as listed on the University dashboard.
  • The University has reserved open classroom space for residential and commuter students to study at Rose Hill and Lincoln Center. All spaces are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Even if you have had COVID-19 or have been vaccinated, you should continue to observe COVID-19 precautions. Public health authorities haven’t yet determined whether previous COVID-19 infection or vaccination offers complete protection from transmitting the virus.
  • Being in the same classroom with a person who tests positive for COVID-19 does not automatically require an individual to be quarantined. The University requires anyone who was within 6 feet of the infected person for more than 10 minutes in any 24-hour period, with or without face coverings, to be quarantined for 10 days, even if they test negative for COVID-19 during the quarantine period, in accordance with CDC guidelines.
  • Classroom spread is the least likely way to contract the virus; indoor, in-person social gatherings—especially those in which attendees are eating and drinking, and are not socially distanced—are the most likely way to do so. Off-campus conduct matters: if you see something you believe is unsafe, please do report it to the University via Public Safety or Student Affairs channels.

You are required to use VitalCheck to verify your COVID-19 status. For more information, please see the COVID-19 Guidelines on the web.
