COVID-19 Update | Five Things | February 10, 2021

0

From the Office of the Vice President for Administration:

Dear Members of the Campus Community:

Here are this week’s five things you need to know about Fordham’s COVID-19 precautions, vaccinations, and University operations:

  • In the current period 45 people in the University community tested positive for COVID-19, a positivity rate of .98%, as listed on the University dashboard.
  • It is critically important that members of the University community faithfully observe COVID-19 precautions at all times, on and off campus:
    • Wear masks correctly (snugly covering nose and mouth) at all times in public spaces;
    • Observe social distancing of at least six feet;
    • Avoid being in crowded indoor spaces for longer than 10 minutes, masked or not.
  • There do not appear to be any cases of classroom spread at Fordham; most virus transmission occurs in social settings.
  • According to the CDC, new variants of the virus seem to spread more easily and quickly than other variants: even if you have been vaccinated or have tested positive for antibodies, you should continue to observe COVID-19 precautions.
  • Fordham has no vaccines on hand. We will inform the University community when that changes. As with testing, vaccine distribution will be monitored via VitalCheck. Residents of New York state with certain comorbidities will be eligible to be vaccinated beginning Monday, Feb. 15. Click here for the state’s full list of eligible conditions.

You are required to use VitalCheck to verify your COVID-19 status. For more information, please see the COVID-19 Guidelines on the web.
