Susanna Barsella, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of Italian, presented “Boccaccio: The Sacred and the Artifice of Illusion” at an invited lecture, Categories of the ‘Decamerion’: Texts and Contexts for Boccacio’s Hundreds Tales, at Princeton University on April 28.

Charles C. Camosy, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, published Peter Singer and Christian Ethics: Beyond Polarization(Cambridge University Press, 2012). He also presented “Peter Singer and Catholic Moral Theology on Non-Human Animals and Ecology: The Difference Sacramentality Makes” at the 67th annual convention of The Catholic Theological Society of America on June 9 in St. Louis, MO.

David R. Chabot, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, presented “Anne Anastasi’s Influence on a Career in Clinical Academic Psychology” at the Society for Personality Assessment annual meeting in Chicago in March.

Martin Chase, S.J., A&S,
associate professor of English and medieval studies, presented “Innovative Kennings in Late Medieval Icelandic Devotional Poetry” at the Society for the Advancement of Scandinavian Studies Annual Conference in Salt Lake City in May.

George Demacopoulos, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of theology and co-director of Orthodox Christian Studies, presented “Every Holy Man Needs a Barbarian: Goths and Lombards in Gregory’s Dialogues” at the North American Patristic Society’s annual conference in May. He published “Gregory the Great and a Post-Imperial Discourse” in Power and Authority in the Eastern Christian Tradition and “Gregory the Great” in The Spiritual Senses in the Western Christian Tradition.

Celia Fisher, Ph.D., A&S,
Marie Ward Doty University Chair and professor of psychology, has been appointed to serve as an ethicist on the National Institute for Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network review committee.

Qin Gao, Ph.D., GSS,
associate professor of social work, won an award for “Social Policy, Poverty, and Income Inequality in China: From 2002 to 2007” from the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange.

J. Patrick Hornbeck, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, associate chair for undergraduate studies for theology, and associate director for Prestigious Fellowships, published Wycliffite Controversies (Turnhout: Brepols, 2012).

Christopher Maginn, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of history, published William Cecil, Ireland, and the Tudor State (Oxford University Press, 2012).

Tina Maschi, Ph.D., GSS,
assistant professor of social work, won a National Endowment for the Arts award for her research on the impact of arts programming on the social skills and mental health outcomes of at-risk youth.

Thomas M. McCoog, S.J., ADM,
curator of the Avery Cardinal Dulles archives, published The Society of Jesus in Ireland, Scotland, and England, 1589-1597 (Farnham: Ashgate, 2012).

Joseph M. McShane, S.J., ADM,
president of Fordham University, was named chair of the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU). He will serve as CICU Chairman from 2012-2014.

Wolfgang Mueller, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of history and associate chair of undergraduate studies, published The Criminalization of Abortion in the West: Its Origins in Medieval Law (Cornell University Press, 2012).

Philip M. Napoli, Ph.D., BUS,
professor of communication and media management and director of the Donald McGannon Communication Research Center, published “Audience Evolution and the Future of Audience Research,” in the International Journal on Media Management in June. He delivered three presentations in June: “Social TV Analytics: An Overview” at the Collaborative Alliance, “Social Media Analytics as an Alternative Method of Audience Research” at the New Media, New Demand Measurement Methodologies conference, and a co-authored literature review on critical information needs in local communities to the Federal Communications Commission.

Maureen H. O’Connell, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of theology, presented “Confessing Complicity: Catholic Moral Theology and White Claims to Moral Goodness in Racial Injustice” at the Sixty-Seventh Annual Convention of The Catholic Theological Society of America on June 9 in St. Louis, MO.

Manoj Pardasani, Ph.D., GSS,
associate professor of social service, won an award for “Better Centers, Care, and Financial Help for Seniors” from New York Community Trust.

Silvana Patriarca, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of history, published The Risorgimento Revisited: Nationalism and Culture in Nineteenth-Century Italy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012).

Giorgio Pini, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of philosophy, published “Building the Augustinian Identity: Giles of Rome as Master of the Order,” in Philosophy and Theology in Studia of the Religious Orders and at Papal and Royal Courts (Brepols, 2012).

Thane Rosenbaum, LAW,
John Whelan Distinguished Lecturer in Law and director of the Forum on Law, Culture & Society, moderated “Trials and Error: Behind the Headlines of America’s Most Controversial Cases – Exhibit A: The Casey Anthony Trial” on May 31 at The Schimmel Theater.

Janet Sternberg, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of communication and media studies, received the 2012 Louis Forsdale Award for Outstanding Educator in the Field of Media Ecology, from the Media Ecology Association on June 8.

Warren W. Tryon, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of psychology, published “A Connectionist Network Approach to Psychological Science: Core and Corollary Principles” in the Review of General Psychology.

Gregory Waldrop, S.J., A&S,
assistant professor of art history and Executive Director of University Art Collections, spoke at the New York chapter of the Patron of the Vatican Museums in May on the later paintings of Caravaggio.
