Domestic Violence And Loopholes In The Law

Fordham University Law School’s fifth annual domestic violence conference will look at how violence affects immigrant women as well as gay and lesbian partners, and it will explore the law regarding domestic violence and HIV on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23 from 9:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the McNally Amphitheatre, Fordham University Law School, 140 W. 62nd St., Manhattan. In addition, attorneys and judges will compare mainstream legal responses to domestic violence with the real needs of diverse communities, and discuss how barriers in communities can be overcome.

Speakers include the Hon. Juanita Bing Newton, deputy chief administrative judge for justice initiatives; Ms. Magazine Editor-in-Chief Marcia Ann Gillespie; Victoria Cruz, a domestic violence survivor and domestic violence advocate/counselor, Gay and Lesbian Community Anti-Violence Project; New York City Council member Margarita Lopez and Charlotte A.
