Alan Clark, PhD, A&S,

Christopher Dietrich, PhD, A&S,
assistant professor of history, has been named one of five Nancy Weiss Malkiel Junior Faculty Fellows for 2016 at the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation.

Celia B. Fisher, PhD, A&S,
Marie Ward Doty Professor of Psychology and director of the Fordham Center for Ethics Education, gave the keynote address at an Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) conference, entitled “Vulnerable, Marginalized and At-Risk Participants in Research” on April 7, 2016. She also published “Self-Consent for HIV Prevention Research Involving Sexual and Gender Minority Youth: Reducing Barriers Through Evidence-Based Ethics” in the Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics in March 2016.

John A. Fortunato, PhD, BUS,
professor of communication and media management, published an article entitled “How the Citi Olympic Sponsorship Strategy uses the Knowledge of the Elaboration Likelihood Model” in the Journal of Financial Services Marketing.

Lewis Freeman, PhD, A&S,
senior lecturer of communication and media studies, was profiled on the main page of the National Association for Media Literacy Education’s (NAMLE) website.

James R. Lothian, PhD, BUS,
distinguished professor of finance and Topetta Family Chair in Global Financial Markets, published “Uncovered interest parity: The long and the short of it” in the March issue of the Journal of Empirical Finance and “Comment on Rudebusch and Williams, ‘A wedge in the dual mandate: Monetary policy and long-term unemployment’” in the March issue of the Journal of Macroeconomics.

Frank McLaughlin, ADM,
athletics director emeritus, was inducted into the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Hall of Fame in Danbury, Connecticut on April 15.

Jason Munshi-South, PhD, A&S,
associate professor of biology, published “Population genomics of the Anthropocene: urbanization is negatively associated with genome-wide variation in white-footed mouse populations” in the April 2016 issue of the journal Evolutionary Applications.

Ana R. Pires, PhD, A&S,
assistant professor of mathematics, gave a talk titled “Symplectic embeddings and infinite staircases” at the Gauge Theory, Topology, and Symplectic Geometry seminar at Harvard University on April 1 2016, at the Cornell Penn State Joint Symplectic Seminar on April 9, 2016, and at the IAS – Princeton University Symplectic Geometry Seminar on April 15, 2016.

Andrew Rasmussen, PhD, A&S,
associate professor of psychology and director of the Master’s Program in Applied Psychological Methods, co-authored and published “The Mental Health of Civilians Displaced by Armed Conflict: An Ecological Model of Refugee Distress” in the April 2016 issue of the journal Epidemiology and Psychiatric Sciences.

Jacqueline Reich, PhD, A&S,
professor and chair of communication and media studies, was awarded the American Association for Italian Studies 2016 Book Award for Film and Other Media for her book, The Maciste Films of Italian Cinema (Indiana University Press, 2015).

Lance Strate, PhD, A&S,
professor of communication and media studies, became a contributing editor for Educational Technology, and his essay, “Fatal Amusements: Contemplating the Tempest of the Contemporary Media and American Culture,” was published in their March/April issue. He contributed the chapter “The Touching Interface of the Cosmos” to the anthology Touching the Face of the Cosmos: On the Intersection of Space Travel and Religion (Fordham University Press, 2016). He also gave a plenary address entitled “Understanding ‘Medium’ in the Context of the Media Ecology Intellectual Tradition” at the “What is Media?” conference at the University of Oregon in Portland on April 14-16, 2016.
