Tom Beaudoin, Ph.D., GRE,
associate professor of practical theology, and J. Patrick Hornbeck, Ph.D., A&S, assistant professor of theology, have published a chapter, “Deconversion and Ordinary Theology: A Catholic Study,” inExploring Ordinary Theology: Everyday Christian Believing and the Church, (Ashgate, 2013). 

Fran Blumberg, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor and coordinator of the Educational Psychology Program, co-published a chapter “The Impact of Recreational Video Game Play on Children and Adolescents’ Cognition” in New Directions in Child and Adolescent Development (Wiley, 2013).

Mary Bly, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of English, published a digital three book novel, With this Kiss (Avon, 2013).

Kathleen Cashin, Ed.D., GSE,
clinical professor of educational leadership, administration, and policy, was named Irish Woman of the Year by the Emerald Society of the New York City Board of Education on March 8.

Yi Ding, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of school psychology, published “The Effects of Visual-Chunking-Representation Accommodation on Geometry Testing for Students with Math Disabilities” in Learning Disabilities Research & Practice. 

Robert Field, ADM,
director of Enterprise Program Management, was named to the Board of Directors of the World Institute of Action Learning (WIAL–USA).

Jeanne Flavin, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of sociology, co-moderated a workshop on “Organizing Where You Are with What You Have” at the annual meetings of Sociologists for Women in Society in Tamaya, N.M., on Feb. 9. She also gave a series of lectures on the subject of “Reproductive Justice for All Pregnant Women” at the University of Wisconsin at Madison on Feb. 28.

J. Patrick Hornbeck, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, and Tom Beaudoin, Ph.D., GRE, associate professor of practical theology, delivered a lecture, “When Catholics Change Their Minds about the Faith: Disaffiliation and ‘Deconversion’ in the Church Today,” at Fairfield University on March 10.

Margo A. Jackson, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of counseling psychology, gave a presentation on “Specifying Counseling Psychology Competencies” at the 2013 CCPTP Midwinter Conference in Lost Pines, Texas on Feb. 8. She also presented research alongside students and alum at the 30th Annual Winter Roundtable on Cultural Psychology and Education at Teachers College of Columbia University in New York City on Feb. 15 and 16.

Paul Kantor, Ph.D., A&S,
professor emeritus of political science, gave an address, “Comparing Global City Regions: Discovering a New Realism,” at the Conference on Comparing Cities at Brown University in Providence, R.I. on March 15 and 16.

Thierry Rigogne, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of history, delivered the Clark Quarterly Lecture, “The Creation of the French Café in Myth and History,” at the University of California, Los Angeles on Feb. 21.

Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., A&S,
The Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, spoke on “Contemporary Jesuit Themes” for the Arrupe Seminar on Feb. 1. He also presented a paper, “Revelation as Apocalypse in the Qur’an” at a conference at University of Oxford on March 5-7.

Gina Vergel, ADM,
assistant director of communications, was a panelist on the topic, “Switching Careers: Is it Right for Me?” at the National Association of Hispanic Journalists Conference on March 9 in New York City.
