Distinguished Felix E. Larkin Professor of communication and media management and director of the Center for Communications, has published the book Understanding Media in the Digital Age(Pearson, 2010) with Melvin L. DeFleur of Louisiana State University.

Qin Gao, Ph.D., GSS,
assistant professor of social work, has published “Child Maltreatment Among Asian Americans: Characteristics and Explanatory Framework,” with Fuhua Zhai in a 2009 issue of Child Maltreatmentjournal.

Albert Greco, Ed.D., BUS,
professor of marketing, gave a presentation at the Catholic University of America’s School of Library and Information Science on “Libraries and the Book Industry in the U.S.: 2008-2013,” on Dec. 7.

Amir H. Idris, Ph.D., A&S,
associate professor of African Studies and associate chair, Department of African and African American Studies, has published a chapter titled, “Beyond ‘African’ and ‘Arab’,” in New Sudan in the Making? (Red Sea Press, 2009), edited by Francis M. Deng.

Angela Alaimo O’Donnell, ADM,
associate director for the Curran Center for American Catholic Studies, has published a book of poems, Moving House (WORD Press, 2009). O’Donnell also delivered the keynote lecture and gave a poetry reading at “Women of the Word: A Colloquium of Catholic Women Poets,” at Loyola University Chicago on Nov. 12.

Asif Siddiqi, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of history, gave a talk on the future of China and India in human spaceflight development at a forum on manned spaceflight held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Dec. 11 and sponsored by MIT Space, Policy and Society Research Group.

Laura Stout Sosinsky, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of psychology, presented an invited paper, “What Roles Do Assistant Teachers Play in Prekindergarten Classrooms?,” at the National Association for the Education of Young Children 2009 Annual Conference in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 20.
