Fulbright-Hays Seminar and Study Tour in China

0

The Women and Girls’ Institute at Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Service (GSSS) and Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, received a grant from the Fulbright-Hays Foundation for a monthlong study seminar in June and July. The grant allowed 16 scholars in social sciences and humanities from across the United States to visit 11 cities in China.

Four representatives from Fordham participated in the tour: Patricia Brownell, Ph.D., assistant professor, GSSS; Winnie Kung, Ph.D., associate professor, GSSS; Joan P. Cavanagh, associate director of Campus Ministry at Lincoln Center; and Elizabeth Cooper, J.D., associate professor of Law and faculty director of the Feerick Center for Social Justice and Dispute Resolution.

The study tour focused on women and minority issues in post-economic-reform China, comparing rural and urban areas. The four Fordham participants are sharing their experience with faculty and students at lunch seminars during the academic year.
