WHO HE IS
Manager, Duplicating and I.D. Services

TIME AT FORDHAM
16 years

WHAT HE DOES
Brian is in charge of duplication services and I.D. card production at Fordham. He also runs copy card systems for the Lincoln Center campus, 33 West 60th St. and 888 Seventh Ave. The duplicating service produces three to four million paper copies each year. The I.D. service, a totally separate function, scans thousands of photos annually.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
I interact with everyone at Fordham. My office does booklets and course packs, presentations and other projects for undergraduate and graduate schools, departments and organizations; we also do fliers, posters and brochures for different centers and departments at all of the campuses.”

TECHNOLOGY
“Technology has changed dramatically since I came to Fordham. Our shop has moved into the digital world; the I.D. system is networked between Rose Hill, Lincoln Center and the Westchester campus. The departmental copy machines placed throughout the buildings are also networked so we can service these departmental accounts remotely. And our own printer/copiers here at the Duplicating Center can produce jobs from hard copy, from discs, or you can e-mail a file to us.”

FULL COLOR
“Color printing has also increased. We used to be a black-and-white shop that did some color. Now we do much more color, which has become more popular as the price has come down. As anyone in advertising will tell you, color presentation gets attention.”

GREENER PRINTING
“We are starting to introduce the biggest advances ever in green technology with multifunctional devices. Single devices that scan, copy and print use less power, take up less space and use less toner. And we only use recycled paper.”

COST SAVINGS
“I give people a much better price on duplication than an outside vendor. The idea is to keep the work in house as much as possible, because every time you write a check to a vendor, that’s lost revenue.”

DOWNTIME?
“There isn’t any. The days when summer would come and you could hear a pin drop around here are long gone.”
