professor of psychology, presented a paper, “Patterns of Consumer Usage of Homeless Outreach Services,” at the American Psychological Association annual convention in Toronto in August.

Richard Kernaghan, Ph.D., A&S,
postdoctoral fellow in the department of sociology, has published Coco’s Gone: Of Might and Right in the Huallaga Post-Boom (Stanford University Press, 2009).

Maryanne Kowaleski, Ph.D., A&S,
Joseph Fitzpatrick, S.J., Distinguished Professor and Director of Medieval Studies, has co-editedMedieval Domesticity: Home, Housing, and Household in Medieval England (CUP, 2009).

Michael E. Lee, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, delivered the annual lecture of the University of Notre Dame’s Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism on Sept. 23, entitled “Keeping the Wolf at the Door: Remembering El Salvador’s Martyrs in America, the University, and the Church.”

James R. Lothian, Ph.D., BUS,
distinguished professor of finance and director of the Frank J. Petrilli Center for Research in International Finance, published “Real Exchange Rates over the Last Two Centuries: How Important Is the Harrod-Balassa-Samuelson Effect?” in the Economic Journal. He delivered papers on “U.S. Monetary Policy and the Financial Crisis” at Trinity College Dublin, on “Irving Fisher and the UIP Puzzle” at Maastricht University, on “A Bayesian Comparison of the Gold Standard, the Great Inflation and the Great Moderation” at the University of Rome, Tor Veragata and on “The Behavior of Money, Prices and Exchange Rates across Exchange-Rate Regimes and Purchasing Power Parity” at the University of Piraeus.

James MacDonall, Ph. D., A&S,
professor of psychology, has been elected a fellow of the Division of Experimental Psychology of the American Psychological Association.

Dean McKay, Ph. D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, has co-edited three books, Current Perspectives on the Anxiety Disorders: Implications for DSM-V and Beyond (Springer, 2009), Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Refractory Cases: Turning Failure Into Success (American Psychological Association, 2009) andCognitive Behavior Therapy for Children: Treating Complex and Refractory Cases (Springer, 2009). He also has published “Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder” in The Lancet.

Carina Ray, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of history and African and African-American studies, has been made a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for African American Studies at Princeton University for the academic year 2009-2010. She also served as co-editor of Darfur and the Crisis of Governance in Sudan: A Critical Reader (Cornell University Press, 2009).

Mark S. Silver, Ph.D., BUS,
associate professor of information and communications systems and chair of the area, was awarded Best Paper of 2008 by the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS) for “A Foundation for the Study of IT Effects: A New Look at DeSanctis and Poole’s Concepts of Structural Features and Spirit” (co-authored with M. Lynne Markus).

Jay C. Wade, Ph. D., A&S,
associate professor of psychology, has published “Traditional Masculinity and African American Men’s Health-Related Attitudes and Behavior,” in the American Journal of Men’s Health.
