assistant professor of Italian, has published “De otio religioso: A Humanistic Approach to Religious Life,” in The Panoptical Petrarch: A Life’s Work (Univ. of Chicago Press, 2009).

Martin Chase, S.J., A&S,
associate professor of English and Medieval Studies, gave a talk titled “Siôbót: A Late Medieval Icelandic Trúarkvædi about the Judgment of Susannah,” at Columbia University in November.

Brian Davies, O.P., Ph.D., A&S,
professor of philosophy, is currently on a faculty fellowship and is helping edit The Oxford Handbook to Thomas Aquinas, to be published by Oxford University Press in 2010.

Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J., A&S,
the late Laurence J. McGinley Professor Emeritus, posthumously published Evangelization and the Third Millennium (Paulist Press, 2009). Matthew Gelbart, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of music, has received the American Philosophical Society Sabbatical Year Fellowship for 2010-11 to write a book, Listening to Novelty: Musical Genre and Romantic Ideologies.

Anne-Marie Kirmse, OP, Ph.D., A&S,
research associate, Laurence J. McGinley Chair in Religion and Society, and associate professor of theology, wrote the preface to Evangelization for the Third Millennium (Paulist Press, 2009). She presented a paper at the Catholic Theological Society of America’s annual meeting in Halifax in June, “The Ecclesiology of Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J.”

Joseph T. Lienhard, S.J., A&S,
professor of theology, has edited “Pope Benedict XVI” in The Fathers of the Church: From Clement of Rome to Augustine of Hippo (Eerdmans, 2009).

James A. Lothian, Ph.D., BUS,
distinguished professor of finance and director of the Frank J. Petrilli Center for Research in International Finance, published “The Signaling Hypothesis Revisited: Evidence from Foreign IPOs” in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis.

Ross McLaren, A.O.C.A., A&S,
artist-in-residence in the Department of Theatre and Visual Arts, received the Millennium Achievement Award from EVVY Cultural Interchange for his longstanding contribution to the arts and education on Nov. 11 at the 35th annual EVVY awards, held in Times Square.

Ronald S. Méndez-Clark, PhD., A&S,
associate professor of Spanish and director of International and Study Abroad Programs Office, has been elected to a three-year term on the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) Academic Consortium Board at their annual conference in Istanbul, Turkey.
Francis Petit, Ed.D., BUS,
assistant dean and director of Executive Programs, presented “Pricing Executive MBA Programs: Strategies for Senior Management in Business Schools” at the 2009 Behavioral Pricing Conference, University of Central Florida, in November.

Ilona N. Rashkow, Ph.D., A&S,
associate adjunct professor of College at Sixty, has published a chapter, “The Healing Power of Judaism,” in The Healing Power of Spirituality (Praeger Press, 2010), edited by J. Harold Ellens.

Emily Rosenbaum, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of sociology, been chosen to participate in the Russell Sage Foundation’s Census 2010 project.

Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., A&S,
The Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, has published “Allah” in the New Catholic Encyclopedia Supplement 2009. His 2008 lecture at Georgetown’s Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, “The Word of Divine Command: An Abrahamic Common Theme with Political Implications,” has been published in A Common Word and the Future of Christian-Muslim Relations (ACMCU Occasional Papers, 2009).

Stanley Veliotis, Ph.D., BUS,
assistant professor of accounting, has published “IRA Choices: To Convert or Not to Convert?” in the January 2010 CPA Journal.

Hrishikesh (Rick) Vinod, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of economics, helped organize a session entitled “Econometric Methods” at an international conference on Frontiers of Interface Between Statistics and Sciences, at University of Hyderabad, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, India. Vinod also gave a talk at the conference, “Computer Intensive Econometrics Using R Software,” on Dec. 31, 2009.
