Eight professors have received endowed chair or distinguished professorship appointments in the 2008-2009 academic year at Fordham University, the Office of the President announced.

Barbara Hilkert Andolsen, Ph.D., has been named the James E. Buckman, Esq. Chair in Applied Christian Ethics. Andolsen will teach in the Department of Theology. She was formerly the Helen Bennett McMurray Professor of Social Ethics at Monmouth University.

William F. Baker, Ph.D., has been named the Claudio Aquaviva Chair and Journalist-in-Residence. Baker will teach in the Graduate School of Education.

David V. Budescu Ph.D., has been named the Anne Anastasi Chair of Psychometrics and Quantitative Psychology. Budescu is formerly a professor of psychology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Brian E. Daley, S.J., (FCRH ’61), Arts and Sciences, has been named the St. Ignatius Loyola Chair. Father Daley, the Catherine F. Huisking Professor of Theology at the University of Notre Dame, will teach in the theology department during the fall semester 2008.

Heather Dubrow, Ph.D., has been named the John J. Boyd, S.J., Chair in Poetic Imagination. Dubrow is formerly the Tighe-Evans Professor and John Bascom Professor at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and will teach in the English department.

Stephen Fields, S.J., has been named the St. Ignatius Loyola Chair. Father Fields is an associate professor of theology at Georgetown University and will teach in the theology department during the spring semester 2009.

Gerald Fogarty, S.J., Arts and Sciences, has been named the St. Ignatius Loyola Chair. Father Fogarty is a professor of history from the University of Virginia and will teach in the history department during the academic year.

Brenda G. McGowan, D.S.W., has been named the James R. Dumpson Chair in Child Welfare Studies. McGowan formerly held the Ruth Harris Ottman Professorship of Family and Child Welfare at Columbia University. McGowan will teach in the Graduate School of Social Service.
