Kirk Bingaman, Ph.D., GRE, professor of pastoral mental health counseling, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the journal Pastoral Psychology (Springer Publishing). The journal is one of the most well established academic publications in the field of psychology and religion/spirituality, pastoral care and counseling, and pastoral theology, offering an international interdisciplinary forum for original research.

George E. Demacopoulos, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of theology, the Father John Meyendorff & Patterson Family Chair of Orthodox Christian Studies, and director of the Orthodox Christian Studies Center, has been invited to serve a three year term as a Senior Fellow in Byzantine Studies at the Dumbarton Oaks research institute in Washington, D.C.

Celia Fisher, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of psychology and the Marie Ward Doty University Chair in Ethics, chaired the revision committee for the Society for Research in Child Development, which revised its Ethics Code after 14 years.

Joshua Schrier, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of chemistry and the Kim B. and Stephen E. Bepler Chair, published two papers in the Journal of Chemical Education, “Solution Mixing Calculations as a Geometry, Linear Algebra, and Convex Analysis Problem” and  “Determining the Activity Series with the Fewest Experiments using Sorting Algorithms” with Lillian Cain, FCRH ’21, and Michael Tynes, FCRH ’17, GSAS ’20.

Lance Strate, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of communication and media studies, had his article “The Supreme Identification of Corporations and Persons,” featured in a BlackRock on CNN Business video, “Searching For Purpose, Episode One: Why Purpose?” (2:43).

He delivered an address on Media Ecology for the International Online Series on Schools of Thought in Communication Studies: An Assessment of Their Currency and Contribution to the Field, sponsored by Universidad Carlos III de Madrid on May 6. 

His essay “Understanding ‘Medium’ in the Context of the Media Ecology Tradition” was published in Media: A Transdisciplinary Inquiry, edited by Janet Wasko and Jeremy Swartz (Intellect, 2021).

His article, “Literally vs. Seriously: Analyzing a Contrastive Pair Applied to Interpretations of Trump’s Rhetoric” was published in ETC: A Review of General Semantics, Vol. 76, No. 3-4.
