Badr F. Albanna, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, assistant professor of neurophysics, published “Spike-timing-dependent ensemble encoding by non-classically responsive cortical neurons” in eLife in collaboration with Rob Froemke at NYU.

Faustino Cruz, Ph.D., GRE, dean and professor of practical theology, was one of the presenters at a lecture series, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the International Programs of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies—KU Leuven (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium).

Eric Holland, ARTS AND SCIENCES, on-air personality/interviewer WFUV, adjunct professor of the rock revolution in music and media, interviewed ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons for Speakeasy TV in an episode that aired on Feb. 25 on WNET-13. The program is distributed through PBS, and was taped before a live audience at The Iridium in September.

Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of religion and society and Lawrence J. McGinley Chair, delivered the Georgetown Lecture on Contemporary Islam in Rome, Italy on March 21.  The lecture, entitled “The Call to Jihad and the Lure of Prosperity: Contemporaries Polarities in African Islam and Christianity,” took place at the Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies, where Father Ryan is also teaching a course on Islam and Africa during the month of March.

Joshua Schrier, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor and Bepler Chair in chemistry, recently published “Templated vanadium tellurites: identifying the effects of low density attractions on inorganic layer topology”  in the Journal of Solid State Chemistry, together with collaborators at Haverford College and Purdue University.

Harold Takooshian, Ph.D., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor of psychology, hosted the 38th annual Fordham Forum on Graduate School in Psychology at Lincoln Center on March 13.
