Orit Avishai, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology; Christina Greer, Ph.D., associate professor of political science; Christopher Rhomberg, Ph.D., associate professor of sociology; Clara E. Murray Professor of Law, SCHOOL OF LAW, participated in the American Sociological Association Annual Meeting, which took place in Philadelphia, August 11–14, 2018.

Bill Baker, Ph.D., GSE, professor at the Bernard Schwartz Center for Media, Public Policy & Education, will be presenting his talk “Broadcasting in America: Public Needs and Public Interest” on September 14 for the First Friday Group.

Elaine Congress, D.S.W., associate dean and professor, associate director of the Fordham Center for Nonprofit Leaders, GSS; Harold Takooshian, Ph.D., professor of psychology and urban studies, director of the organizational leadership program, ARTS AND SCIENCES; Kelly J. Roberts, assistant director, Office for International Services, ADMINISTRATION; and T. Hamid Al-Bayati, Ph.D., all participated in a forum to address how organizations and individuals can best promote the work of the United Nations.

Jie Ren, Ph.D., GABELLI, assistant professor of information systems, was awarded Best Paper Second Runner Up for a co-written article “Be Careful What You Read – Evidence of Demand-Driven Media Bias” at the 2018 Americas Conference on Information Systems.

Daniel J. Sullivan, S.J., ARTS AND SCIENCES, professor emeritus of biology, was awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who.
