Elisa Chisari, Ph.D., Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) Research Fellow, University of Oxford, will present “A Next Era of Precision Cosmology: Challenges and Opportunities.”

69% of the energy density of the universe today is in the form of a mysterious “dark energy” component, which seems to be driving its accelerated expansion. Chisari will describe her efforts to build and test models of the large-scale structure of the universe using a combination of analytical theory, cosmological simulations and existing observational data sets. Looking ahead to the next decade, she will describe how we construct and test cosmological model predictions for their application to one of the major upcoming dark energy experiments, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope.

This event is open to alumni, faculty/staff, parents, students, and the public.
