IPED Spring 2021 Lecture Series: Nigel Gould-Davies on Alexei Navalny’s arrest and its Political Risks

Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 12 p.m.

Zoom

Who is Alexei Navalny and what makes him a formidable opponent to Putin and the Russian elite? What are the political risks we should anticipate? How can the Biden administration approach his arrest? And what does this mean for international trade, especially multilateralism?

Please join the IPED community to welcome Dr. Nigel Gould-Davies, the author of the book Tectonic Politics: Global Risk in an Age of Transformation as he tackles these questions. Dr. Gould-Davies is an editor for Strategic Survey: The Annual Assessment of Geopolitics in the International Institute for Strategic Studies. He is also a notable expert on the politics, economics, and security of Russia and the former Soviet Union. Previously, he has taught international relations at Mahidol University in Thailand and held multiple senior government relations roles in the energy industry in central and Southeast Asia.

He holds a B.A. and M.Phil from the University of Oxford and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.

This event is free and will be a webinar via Zoom.
