“This economy kills.” Pope Francis has been unsparing in his criticism of the ravages of modern-day capitalism. In this symposium, Cardinal Joseph Tobin of the Newark Archdiocese will deliver a major lecture on how Catholic teaching can light the way to a more just future.

Jeffrey D. Sachs, a world-renowned economist at Columbia University and regular visitor to the Vatican, will deliver a response. Christine Emba of the Washington Post will moderate the discussion.
