Leadership Change at Graduate School of Business Administration

0

Howard P. Tuckman, Ph.D., will step down as dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration (GBA) and dean of the faculty of business, effective June 30, 2009. Robert Himmelberg, Ph.D., professor of history, will assume the post of interim dean of GBA as of July 1, 2009. Donna Rapaccioli, Ph.D., dean of CBA, and Himmelberg will serve as co-deans of the faculty of business during a one-year transition period.

Tuckman was appointed dean of GBA in June 2006. He will begin a twelve-month sabbatical and return to University service as a member of the tenured faculty at the beginning of the 2010-2011 academic year.

“I commend Dr. Tuckman, Dr. Donna Rapaccioli, dean of the College of Business Administration, and a dedicated team of faculty and administrative leaders, for their efforts leading to the successful re-accreditation of Fordham’s Schools of Business Administration by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business,” said Stephen Freedman, Ph.D., senior vice president/chief academic officer. “This is a significant achievement that confirms the intellectual breadth and rigor of programs fostered by excellence in teaching and learning.”

Tuckman served GBA and the University “with skill and distinction over the past three years,” Freedman said. “Under Dr. Tuckman’s leadership, Fordham’s business programs have grown in national and international stature. I appreciate his service to Fordham, and look forward to working with him on the faculty.”

“I thank Dr. Himmelberg and Dr. Rapaccioli for their willingness to take on these important new responsibilities,” Freedman said. “I have every confidence that they will provide an effective, collaborative model of leadership.”
