Fordham Finance Professor was Expert in Real Estate

Leon Shilton, Ph.D., professor of finance at the Fordham University Graduate School of Business Administration (GBA), passed away on March 18. He was 63.

Shilton joined the Fordham University faculty in 1987 after earning a Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A widely published expert on real estate finance, he created a number of real estate courses as part of the finance concentration in the MBA program. In one field-study course, Shilton developed a partnership with the city of Yonkers in which his students teamed with economic development officials on urban renewal projects. Shilton was a member of various professional associations and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at Christ Church, 380 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury, N.J. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Marine’s Memorial Club, 609 Sutter St., San Francisco, Calif. 94102.
