She presented her research on the patterns of intimate partner violence and associated risk factors within the U.S. Army and the implications for the practice of assessment.

Amir H. Idris, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of African and African-American studies, published a column titled “Reframing Citizenship in Two Sudans” on Dec. 9 in Sudan Tribune. He was interviewed by Voice of America about the death of a rebel leader in South Sudan on Dec. 21.

Tina Maschi, Ph.D., GSS,
assistant professor of social work, published Social Worker as Researcher: Integrating Research with Advocacy (Pearson, 2012).

Philip M. Napoli, Ph.D., BUS,
professor and area chair of communications and media management and director of the Donald McGannon Communication Research Center, published an editorial on the FCC’s retransmission consent rules in The Hill. He also co-authored the report “Mapping Digital Media: United States,” which was published in December by the Open Society Institute. In November, he delivered a presentation on “Social Media and the Public Interest” at a workshop on the Governance of Social Media co-sponsored by the McGannon Center and hosted by Georgetown University. In December, he delivered the presentation “Social Media, Television, and the Evolution of the ‘Institutionally Effective’ Audience” at MIT.

Angela Alaimo O’Donnell, ADM,
associate director for the Curran Center for American Catholic Studies, gave a lecture on “Gerard Manley Hopkins: His Poetics and Poetry” on Dec. 15 for the Crossroads Cultural Center. She published two poems: “What Mary Knew” on Dec. 19 in America and “Emmanuel” on Dec. 13 in The Christian Century. She also published “Broken by Mercy: Poetry and the Paradox of Faith” inChristianity & Literature.
