NEW YORK: The Board of Trustees elected eight members to its ranks during a meeting held Oct. 17 in the William D. Walsh Family Library. Previous trustees Winston J. Churchill; John R. Costantino; the Rev. Vincent J. Duminuco, S.J.; and William P. Frank have rejoined the board, while new additions include Sister Kathleen Fagan, RSHM; Lawrence Kudlow; Joel I. Picket; and Wesley W. von Schack. Winston J. Churchill (FCO ’62), managing general partner of SCP Private Equity Management, L.P., and chairman of CIP Capital Management, Inc. A former Rhodes Scholar, Churchill has an M.A. from Oxford University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. He is a former managing partner of Bradford Associates and from 1967 until 1983 he practiced law at the Philadelphia firm of Saul, Ewing, Remick & Saul. Churchill is also the director of Griffin Land and Nurseries, Inc.; Amkor Technology, Inc.; MedStar Health; and various other portfolio companies.

A member of Fordham’s Board from 1993 until 2001, Churchill is also a member of the executive committee of the Council of Institutional Investors. John R. Costantino (CBA ’67, LAW ’70), private investor and partner in Walden Partners Ltd. and a founder of Walden Capital Partners. Costantino, a lawyer and certified public accountant, is a former partner in the investment firm Costantino, Melamede & Greenberg. He was the senior executive vice president and chief operating officer of Conair Corporation, and he also was the managing director and president of Integrated Acquisition Corporation. Costantino has served on the boards of numerous public and private companies and was a member of Fordham’s Board from 1989 until 1995. He is currently a trustee of the Neurosciences Research Foundation and the Gregorian University (Rome) Foundation.

The Rev. Vincent J. Duminuco, S.J. (FCO ’57, JES ’58, GAS ’60), visiting professor of education and rector of the Jesuit community. An expert in the field of education, Father Duminuco is the director of the Jesuit Education Leadership Project, which trains lay people to become administrators in Jesuit schools. Duminuco entered the Society of Jesus in 1951 and was ordained a priest in 1964. After attending Stanford University, he served as headmaster of Xavier High School in Manhattan from 1969 until 1974. He later served as president of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association from 1977 until 1986, when he was named Secretary of Education for the Society of Jesus. A member of Fordham’s Board from 1971 until 1977, Duminuco has been a consultant to such organizations as the United States Office of Education and the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Sister Kathleen Fagan, RSHM (MC ’63), headmistress of Marymount School in Manhattan.

Prior to becoming headmistress in 1976, Fagan was a divisional head and chair of the English department. She also taught at the Marymount International School in London and at the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Sag Harbor, N.Y. She served on the Marymount-Fordham consolidation board and was also a member of the New York State Association of Independent Schools Accreditation Commission. In addition to her Marymount degree, Fagan holds an M.A. from the University of Notre Dame. William P. Frank (LAW ’66), partner, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates. Frank represents major corporations, investment banking firms and individuals, concentrating on securities, commercial contract and fraud, as well as class actions and shareholder derivative suits and arbitrations. He has been affiliated with the Federal Bar Council, the Practicing Law Institute, the American Bar Association and the Federal Bar Council. He first joined Fordham’s Board of Trustees in 1988 and has served on Georgetown University’s Board of Directors since 1991.

Lawrence Kudlow, CEO of Kudlow & Co., LLC, and co-host of CNBC’s Kudlow & Cramer. Kudlow is a nationally syndicated columnist and contributing editor of “National Review Magazine”. For many years, he served as chief economist on Wall Street and was a member of the Bush-Cheney Transition Advisory Committee. During President Reagan’s first term, Kudlow was the associate director for economics and planning in the Office of Management and Budget. Kudlow attended the University of Rochester and Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Joel I. Picket, chairman and chief executive officer of Gotham Organization, Inc. Picket transformed Gotham from a general contracting business into a multi-dimensional, full service real estate firm active in general contracting, construction management and development management.

Picket has affiliations with many civic organizations, including Continuum Health Partners, Beth Israel Medical Center and Cornell University. He previously served on Fordham’s Board from 1988 until 1994. Picket holds a B.A. from Cornell. He also attended the Graduate School of Business at New York University. Wesley W. von Schack (FCO ’65), chairman, president and chief executive officer of Energy East Corporation.

Prior to September 1996, von Schack was chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of DQE, a diversified energy services company headquartered in Pittsburgh. He is a board member of several organizations, including Energy East; Mellon Financial Corporation; The Gettysburg National Battlefield Museum Foundation; The Business Council of New York State, Inc.; and the American Gas Association. In addition to his Fordham degree, von Schack holds an M.B.A. from St. John’s University and a Ph.D. from Pace University.
