NEW YORK – Paul P. Kantor, Ph.D., professor of political science, has received a Fulbright Senior Specialists grant in political science to travel to Italy’s University of Milano-Bicocca and University of Bari. Kantor will spend two weeks lecturing about the impact of globalization on local politics, which is the basis of his book Cities in the International Marketplace: The Political Economy of Urban Development in North America and Western Europe (Princeton, 2002). His research, which took seven years to complete, is a survey of 30 years of local politics and economic change in 10 cities. “I really enjoy comparative research and I’m looking forward to interacting with European scholars who will provide me with a fresh perspective on the American scene,” said Kantor, a Fordham faculty member since 1970.

Created to complement the traditional Fulbright program, the Senior Specialists program offers grants to U.S. academics and professionals to support curricular and faculty development and institutional planning at academic institutions in 140 countries. It aims at increasing the number of faculty and professionals who have the opportunity to go abroad on a Fulbright.
