NEW YORK � The Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley will award Fordham�s Sister Elizabeth A. Johnson, CSJ, Ph.D., an honorary degree on May 22 when she delivers the school�s commencement address. She was the top nominee among the faculty and students at the professional Catholic school. Johnson, a distinguished professor of theology, is the author of several books, including “She Who Is: The Mystery of God in Feminist Theological Discourse” (Crossroad, 1992). She received the 1999 American Academy of Religion Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion, Constructive Category, and Crossroad Publishing’s Women’s Studies Award. Johnson specializes in systematic theology, Christology and feminist theology. One of only two Jesuit theological centers in the United States, the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley prepares men and women to become leaders in ministry, to find spiritual and theological renewal and to gain professional and personal growth.
