Fordham University’s Department of Athletics has released the fall sports schedules for volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country and water polo.

VOLLEYBALL

The Fordham volleyball team will open its 2007 schedule on Aug. 24 at the Georgia State Tournament in Atlanta. The team will compete in four other tournaments throughout the season, including hosting the seventh annual Rose Hill Classic on Sept. 14 and 15 at the Rose Hill Gymnasium. For the 2007 Rose Hill Classic, Fordham will host Seton Hall, Quinnipiac and Central Connecticut State universities.

Beside the 13-game Atlantic 10 schedule, Fordham will also play six opponents from the Big East Conference, four of which will be at home. Fordham will play the University of South Florida at the Western New York Invitational (Sept. 2) and Syracuse at the Syracuse Invitational (Sept. 8), and will host Seton Hall (Sept. 14), St. John’s University (Sept. 18), the University of Connecticut (Oct. 14), and Rutgers University (Nov. 7).

MEN’S SOCCER

The Fordham men’s soccer team will have a pair of exhibition games before opening its 2007 schedule with a pair of home games. Fordham will face Marist University on Aug. 31 and then Loyola University on Sept. 2. After their annual match-up with Manhattan College on Sept. 29, Fordham will play the entire month of October at home, featuring five Atlantic 10 Conference match-ups against La Salle, Xavier, Dayton, St. Bonaventure, and Duquesne universities.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Fordham women’s soccer team will also have a pair of exhibition games before making their 2007 debut on the road at Iona University on September 2. The Rams will play two more road contests at Lafayette University (Sept. 7) and Manhattan (Sept. 9), before making their first home start against the State University of New York at Stony Brook on Sept. 14.

The Stony Brook game will begin a stretch of seven of nine games at home for the Rams, which includes home match-ups with Seton Hall (Sept. 16), Army (Sept. 25), the University of Richmond (Sept. 28), La Salle (Oct. 7), Temple University (Oct. 12) and Saint Joseph’s University (Oct. 14).

CROSS COUNTRY

The Fordham cross country teams will begin their season on Aug. 31 at the Stony Brook Invitational at Sunken Meadow Park. Fordham will be the host campus for four meets this season, including the Fordham Invitational (Sept. 8), Ram Invitational (Sept. 15), the Metropolitan Championships (Oct. 5) and the ECAC/IC4A Championship (Nov. 17).

WATER POLO

The Fordham water polo team will begin its season with a pair of tournaments at Navy (Sept. 1 and 2) and Princeton University (Sept. 8 and 9). The Rams will then head west to California for a non-conference match-up with the University of Santa Clara on Sept. 21. The team will then play in the University of California at Santa Cruz Slugfest on September 22 and 23. Fordham will then start its conference schedule with only two home dates on the schedule. The Rams will host Queens College on Oct. 11 and St. Francis (N.Y.) College on Oct. 23.
