The Fordham men’s basketball team will return to the site of some of its greatest games when it hosts the Dayton Flyers on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at Madison Square Garden.

Fans of the Rams are invited to tip-off the evening at a pre-game reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stout, which is located at 133 W. 33rd St., less than a block away from the Garden. Tickets are $10 plus a cash bar, and will be available at the door. For more information about the reception, contact Mary Nolin, alumni relations officer, at (212) 636-7501.

The Fordham-Dayton contest will follow a Big East battle between St. John’s and Cincinnati. That game will begin at 7 p.m., with the Rams and Flyers tipping off 20 minutes after the conclusion of the first game. The expected start time is 9:30 p.m.

Tickets, which includes both games, are $50 for the lower level and $30 for the 300 section. For more information or to order tickets, call the Fordham Ticket Office at (718) 817-4759. Tickets will be available at the Madison Square Garden box office.

The game will mark the first Fordham appearance at Madison Square Garden since 2002 and the 114th overall.

Fordham has enjoyed some memorable games at Madison Square Garden, one of the most unforgettable being in the 1970-71 season when Fordham took on Marquette University. Marquette entered the game ranked second in the country while the Rams were 11th.

Marquette defeated Fordham 85-80, but the 1970-71 Rams went on to the NCAA tournament and finished with a 26-3 record under head coach Digger Phelps, who was assisted by current Fordham Executive Director of Athletics Frank McLaughlin.
