Fordham University is helping to prepare for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center by providing safe pedestrian access on 62nd Street and helping to manage the event’s electrical needs.

The University has installed pedestrian walkway barriers along the south sidewalk of 62nd Street from Amsterdam Avenue to Columbus Avenue. This allows Fashion Week producer IMG to occupy 62nd Street and the north sidewalk, which will be closed from Aug. 17 to Sept. 26.

Access along the south sidewalk from Columbus Avenue to the Fordham Law entrance will remain open.

In addition, to minimize the usage of generated power needed for Fashion Week, Fordham has made arrangements to provide electricity to one of IMG’s support trailers and has eliminated one generator along Columbus Avenue at 61st Street.

The University is continuing to coordinate its Lincoln Center campus construction with local constituents and the Mayor’s Office of Citywide Event Coordination and Management.

Fordham thanks its neighbors for their continued cooperation during the excavation and foundation phase of the project, which began eight months ago. Crews are nearing completion of basement underground piping and slab work, and will begin structural steel erection in October.

The University asks community members for their indulgence during this continued period of construction. As issues and concerns arise, neighbors are encouraged to alert Fordham’s Office of Facilities Development at (212) 636-6245.
