WFUV, New York’s discovery music station and the public media service of Fordham, will be updating its lineup beginning Aug. 24, bringing more of its signature music mix to weeknights and weekends and revising the Sunday lineup to feature more Celtic programming.

Effective Aug. 24, Mondays through Thursdays will feature award-winning radio personality and former host of The Alternate Side Alisa Ali from 6 to 10 p.m. and veteran WFUV host Darren DeVivo from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. These changes ensure 22 hours per day of WFUV’s unique Adult Album Alternative music format.

Beginning Aug. 29, WFUV’s weekday music mix will also be heard on the weekends. Midday host and Assistant Music Director Carmel Holt kicks off Saturdays from 6 to 10 a.m., followed by Music Director Russ Borris from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“These changes strengthen our lineup across the week,” said Chuck Singleton, WFUV general manager. “We’re excited to bring Alisa Ali into the spotlight on WFUV’s main stage, and extending our weekday music mix to the weekends has been a longtime goal.”

Kathleen Biggins’ longtime traditional Irish program, A Thousand Welcomes, will move from Saturdays to Sundays from 8 to 11 a.m., effective Aug. 30. The move positions Biggins’ show between Irish music and culture programs The Thistle & Shamrock and Ceol na nGael, which air on Sundays from 7 to 8 a.m. and 12 to 4 p.m., respectively. Together, these programs will form An Irish Sunday on WFUV.

Sunday Breakfast, John Platt’s program of folk, rock, and singer-songwriters, will become Sunday Supper, as it shifts to Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m. The move situates it between Woody’s Children with Bob Sherman (4 to 5 p.m.) and The Big Broadcast with Rich Conaty (8 p.m. to midnight).

“We’ve created a natural flow for our Irish music lovers on Sunday, and from 4 p.m. on we have a block of three strong, respected local programs for the first time,” Singleton said.

WFUV will also now be simulcast on WNYE 91.5 FM weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m., beginning Aug. 24. The Alternate Side will no longer air weekday mornings on 91.5 FM, though it will continue as a specialty show on WFUV hosted by Russ Borris on Fridays from 9 p.m. to midnight.

“This really puts our best foot forward,” said WFUV Program Director Rita Houston. “We’re giving our weekday listeners more of the music they love when they want it. At the same time, we still have a lineup of legacy programs hosted by potent personalities on both Saturday and Sunday. It’s all part of the unique, eclectic nature of WFUV.”
