Fordham University Law School has broken into the top 25 law schools in the country in the latest rankings by U.S. News and World Report magazine.

In the magazine’s annual America’s Best Graduate Schools issue released on its Web site on March 30,U.S. News & World Report ranks the Law School as No. 25, up seven places from last year.

U.S. News and World Report, which has published graduate school rankings since 1994, also rated several of the Law School’s specialty programs. The dispute resolution program was ranked 10th in its field, international law was ranked 11th, clinical legal education was ranked 15th, and intellectual property was ranked 23rd. Fordham was also listed among the country’s most diverse law schools.

“I’m delighted that the recent rankings recognize the quality of our outstanding faculty, staff, students and alumni,” said William Michael Treanor, dean of Fordham Law School. “The U.S. News survey reflects what we have long known—that Fordham provides a complete legal education that is one of the best in the nation.”

U.S. News releases its rankings of the nation’s best graduate schools each spring, and takes into consideration a number of objective and subjective factors, including reputation, selectivity, placement success and faculty resources.

The magazine’s rankings came just days after two other rankings rated the Law School among the best in the nation.

Legal recruiting professionals surveyed by career publisher Vault.com selected Fordham as the nation’s second most underrated law school, and Lawdragon, an online legal community featuring lawyer rankings and legal news, ranked it as the 21st best law school.

In the Vault.com ratings, more than 500 recruiters, including recruiting managers, hiring partners, and corporate counsels, were asked to name law schools that produce excellent graduates but are not given enough credit for their work.

Lawdragon’s rankings were based on the number of alumni of each law school who are included in the Lawdragon 500, a list of the nation’s top plaintiffs’ lawyers compiled by a survey of the legal community.
