The University will move its adult undergraduate program, and Graduate Schools of Business Administration, Education, Religion and Religious Education, and Social Service from the Marymount campus to a new campus at 400 Westchester Ave., in West Harrison, N.Y., in time for the Fall 2008 semester.

“Fordham has been committed to maintaining its historic presence in Westchester. Thus I am delighted to say we will not only be staying, but raising our visibility in the county,” said Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham. “We are looking forward to working with the communities in West Harrison and White Plains, and with our neighbors in business and government in Westchester on this new venture.”

Fordham Westchester is a three-story, 62,500-square-foot building on 32 landscaped acres with a stream and pond. The University has signed a 20-year lease with GHP Office Properties for the campus, which includes 26 newly designed classrooms with such technological features as smart boards, teleconferencing capabilities and brand new seating and learning areas.

The campus will have faculty and office support space, a library resource center, a dining facility, and both indoor and outdoor meeting areas for student sessions. The $8 million renovation will provide the University with the latest in green building technology, with academic facilities surrounding a large central courtyard.

“Fordham University is a great institution,” said Westchester County Executive Andy Spano. “We are very happy they decided to remain and relocate within Westchester County. Higher education is a key to Westchester’s economic development.”

Fordham chose the West Harrison location after looking over more than 30 sites. The campus offers parking for 250 vehicles and access to public transportation. It is on the White Plains border, just off Interstate 287 near the Hutchinson Parkway and Route 684, a location the University believes will be more convenient for many of its students.
