WFUV-FM (90.7), Fordham University’s public radio station, will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a full evening of festivities onFriday, Oct. 26. A panel discussion about the station’s past and future, led by disc jockey Pete Fornatale (FCRH ’67), will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m. at the O’Keefe Commons, followed by a reception and tour of the station’s state-of-the-art facilities at Keating Hall on the Rose Hill campus. In addition, WFUV favorite Ollabelle will perform later in the evening.
General Manager Ralph Jennings said he’s excited that the panel, which will include Charles Osgood (FCRH ’54), anchor of CBS News’ Sunday Morning, and Ed Randall (FCRH ’74), host ofTalking Baseball on radio station WFAN, represents the full spectrum of alumni who were involved WFUV’s transition from a student-run enterprise to a full-fledged public radio station supported by Fordham students. “It’s going to be interesting to hear their views on the station, what we’re doing,” he said. “We feel very confident in what we’ve been able to do in the last 22 years.”

WFUV airs news from National Public Radio and an eclectic mix of music throughout the day. It has about 300,000 listeners a week, and is staffed by 27 employees and more than 70 students. In the 2006-2007 fiscal year, the station increased its underwriting by 30 percent, crossing the $1 million mark in revenue for the first time in its history.
