To celebrate the launch of a new master’s program in urban studies, Fordham will welcome eminent sociologist Douglas S. Massey, Ph.D., to speak at the Rose Hill campus on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Massey, the Henry G. Bryant Professor of Sociology and Public Affairs at Princeton, will present “The Changing Bases of American Segregation.”
A reception will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the first floor of the library.
A member of the Princeton faculty since 2003 and a fluent Spanish speaker, Massey is one of the world’s top scholars of urban sociology and demography, as well as Mexican immigration.
Massey co-authored Segregation and the Making of the Underclass (Harvard University Press, 1998), and is a past president of the Population Association of America, the American Sociological Association and the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
