senior secretary of the Department of African and African American Studies’ Lincoln Center campus office, presented “Saving Burial Grounds of Enslaved Americans” at the National Park Service’s International Cemetery Preservation Summit in Niagara Falls on April 9th.

Tom Beaudoin, Ph.D., GRE,
associate professor of practical theology, published two chapters, “Postmodern Practical Theology,” and “White Practical Theology,” in Opening the Field of Practical Theology: An Introduction (Rowman and Littlefield, 2014).

Fran Blumberg, Ph.D., GSE,
associate professor of counseling psychology, gave a keynote lecture, “Children’s and Adolescents’ Learning in the Context of Recreational Video Game Play,” at the 5th International Computer Game Conference, “Clash of Realities 2014,” at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, Germany, on May 7.

Robert Brancatelli, Ph.D., GRE,
adjunct professor at Fordham’s Graduate School of Business Administration, published Laura Fedora(Blumen Publishing, 2014).

Elaine Congress, D.S.W., GSS,
associate dean of the Graduate School of Social Service (GSS) and professor of social work, Allan Luks, GSS, director for the Fordham Center for Nonprofit Leaders, and Francis Petit, Ed.D., BUS,associate dean and director of Executive Programs, co-presented “Creating and Maintaining a Supportive and Diverse Workplace Within a Not For Profit Organization” at the Not-For-Profit Leadership Summit XII in Tarrytown on May 5.

professor of theology, gave a lecture about the current plight of Christians in the Middle East at Fairfield University on April 24.

Christine Firer Hinze, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of theology, delivered the Madeleva Lecture, “Glass Ceilings and Dirt Floors: Women, Work, Catholic Social Teaching and the Global Economy,” at the Center for Spirituality of Saint Mary’s College on April 24.

John A. Fortunato, Ph.D., BUS,
professor in communication and media management, was the lead author of a chapter, “Using Marketing Theory to Increase African-American Participation with Major League Baseball,” in Out of Bounds: Racism and the Black Athlete (Praeger, 2014).

Quamrul Haider, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of physics and engineering physics and adviser for the Cooperative Program in Engineering, published “Transformation Between Complex Scattering Length and Binding Energy,” and “Next-to-Leading Order Considerations in Analysis of h-Nucleus Interaction,” in Acta Physica Polonica.

Linda Horisk, GSE,
assistant dean of admissions and enrollment, won the Future Leader Award at the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals’ (NAGAP) 27th Annual Conference on May 1.

Elizabeth Johnson, C.S.J., A&S,
Distinguished Professor of Theology, received the degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, at the commencement exercises of Fairfield University on May 18.

Anne-Marie Kirmse, O.P., Ph.D., A&S,
research associate, Laurence J. McGinley Chair in Religion and Society, and associate professor of theology, published “Cardinal Dulles and the New Evangelization” in Handing on the Faith, Annual Publication of the College Theology Society.

Chad McArver, A&S,
assistant professor of theatre, served on the 2013-14 Drama Desk Nominating Committee, which chose the 2014 Drama Desk Award contenders.

Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn, J.C.L., ADM,
vice president for University Mission and Ministry, gave a lecture, “Called to Serve,” at The Commonwealth Medical College on May 2.

Patrick J. Ryan, S.J., A&S,
The Laurence J. McGinley Professor of Religion and Society, published the Spring McGinley Lecture, “Usury: A Moral Concern for Jews, Christians and Muslims,” in Origins on April 24. He also published “Muslim Perspectives on Ignatian Spirituality” in Chiedza: the Journal of Arrupe College in Zimbabwe.

John Seitz, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of theology, delivered a lecture, “An Emotional History of Vatican II: Relationships at St. John’s Seminary, Boston 1959-1971,” at the Lived History of Vatican II conference at Notre Dame on April 26.

Richard R. Viladesau, S.T.D., A&S,
professor of theology, published The Pathos of the Cross: The Passion of Christ in Theology and the Arts-The Baroque Era (Oxford University Press, 2014).
