Babette Babich, Ph.D., A&S,
professor of philosophy, gave a lecture invited by the Nietzsche Circle on the topic: “Nietzsche and the Uses of Sculpture for Life,” on the evening of Feb. 26 at the Onassis Cultural Center in Manhattan, sponsored by the Nietzsche Circle. The following afternoon she gave a lecture, “Ex Aliquo nihil: Nietzsche on Science and Modern Nihilism” at Catholic University.

Elaine Congress, D.S.W., GSS,
associate dean of GSS and professor of social work, recently co-edited a new book Teaching Social Work Values and Ethics: A Curriculum Resource (Council on Social Work Education, 2009).

Thomas E. DeJulio, Esq., ADM,
Fordham’s general counsel, has been awarded the Denzel Washington Community Service Award from the Mount Vernon Boys and Girls Club. United States Congressman Eliot Engel and actor/comedian J.B. Smoove presented the award at the Boys and Girls Club’s 96th Anniversary Dinner honoring community leaders who have made a profound impact on youth.

Celia Fisher, Ph.D., A&S,
Marie Ward Doty Professor of Psychology and Director of Fordham’s Center for Ethics Education, has published Decoding the Ethics Code: A Practical Guide for Psychologists, 2nd Edition (Sage Publications, 2009).

Shirley Gatenio Gabel, Ph.D., GSS,
assistant professor of social work, has been appointed to the Council on Social Work Education’s Council on Global Learning, Research and Practice. The council is charged with initiating and promoting international social work practice and curriculum and other duties.

Heather Gautney, Ph.D., A&S,
assistant professor of sociology, was the lead editor on a book titled Democracy, States and the Struggle for Global Justice (Routledge, 2009).

Kathleen P. King, Ed.D., GSE,
professor of education, has edited Empowering Women through Literacy: Views from Experience(Information Age Publishing, Inc., 2009).

Judith Kubicki, CSSF, A&S,
associate professor of theology, gave a talk, “The Presence of Christ in the Gathered Assembly,” at the First Congregational Church on the Green in Norwalk, Conn., on March 4.

Kenneth Lau, LCSW, GSS,
program director of the Westchester-campus-based Children FIRST, has published Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect: A Practical Guide for Social Workers (Springer Publishing, 2009).

Francis Petit, Ed.D., BUS,
assistant dean and director of executive programs for the Graduate School of Business Administration, recently published “Customer Experience Management as an Innovative Solution for Managing and Growing the Executive MBA Product: An Exploratory Analysis,” in Innovative Marketing.
