WHO HE IS
Assistant Dean of Admission, Fordham College of Liberal Studies

TIME AT FORDHAM
10 months

WHAT HE DOES
Glen is in charge of vetting applications to FCLS programs at the Lincoln Center campus. Most of his time is spent talking to prospective students in person, on the phone or via e-mail.

SATISFYING WORK
“I enjoy meeting new people from different walks of life. At FCLS, we’re here to help students achieve their academic goals. That alone is rewarding as an admissions dean.”

OTHER BENEFITS
“We’re the part-time, adult, evening, weekend, on-line educational arm of the University. Our programs are flexible so students can also take day classes.”

A RESOURCE

“It’s amazing how many people working in Midtown have not completed their undergraduate degrees. We have an abundance of interesting students with varied backgrounds. In the short time I’ve been here, we’ve admitted a former professional soccer player, an actress from All My Children, a Rockette, a previous air traffic controller and several members of the New York City Ballet. Our students span the globe—Brazil, Egypt, Russia, Senegal, Thailand and Uruguay.”

DID YOU KNOW?

Glen has been a serious runner since childhood, having done his first marathon (26.2 miles) at age 13. Now an ultra marathon specialist (someone who participates in races longer than a marathon), he recently won the Vermont 50 Kilometer trail run. He also has a sponsor—Salomon Running.

WHY RUNNING?
“Something is missing in my day if I don’t go out and run. I especially love trail running because, unlike road running, the trail is much more forgiving. It works different muscle groups running up and down hills, whereas the road is very quad-specific.

WHAT’S NEXT?
“I’ll be running the 2008 World Cup in Italy as a member of the Canadian Team on Nov. 8. The race is 100 kilometers (62 miles) with athletes from over 33 countries. There will be aid stations with hydration drinks and food every three or four miles.
