Fordham University will host the second annual Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Honors Conference at the Walsh Library on Feb. 16 and 17. The conference will bring together program directors, faculty, staff and students from Jesuit institutions throughout the country to discuss issues related to honors programs for undergraduates.

Fordham has had an honors program since 1955. Enrollment in the program is limited to about 25 Fordham students each year who take a specific sequence of courses and complete a senior thesis. Members are expected to maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or better. In 2006, 22 students completed senior theses and received the designation in cursu honorum (in a course of honors) on their diplomas. The inaugural conference was held at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

AJCU is a national voluntary organization that supports and promotes Jesuit higher education by facilitating cooperative efforts among its member institutions, and providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information.
