Entrepreneurial Discipleship to Be Introduced at Lecture

0

Can a new model of the Catholic Church harness collective innovation, community-based initiatives and creativity to respond to the calling of Christ?

Robert Brancatelli, Ph.D., visiting professor at the Graduate School of Religion and Religious Education (GRE), and David A. Gautschi, Ph.D., dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration (GBA), think so.

They will present their ideas in a lecture, Entrepreneurial Discipleship, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 135 W. 31st Street in Manhattan.

The lecture, which is sponsored by (GRE), will introduce a five-week course to be offered next spring at St. Francis of Assisi and at Fordham’s Rose Hill campus. The course aims to achieve three goals, including:

• establishing the need for a new model of pastoral leadership and ministry given the changing demographics of the church in the United States and the challenges of the global economic crisis;
• identifying an entrepreneurial spirit derived from business but congruent with evangelization and faith formation;
• offering new ways of being a church that will meet the needs of people in the 21st century.
